Subject: Hidden Gem

Having been fortunate enough to see this show, I find it safe to say that anyone who was there would agree that it was smoking. It was an electric show, the fan base was high, great vibes. The Scope was never known for it's acoustics. Didn't matter that night, it was quite a show.I believe the Dead enjoyed playing the mid-Atlantic region of the country. All my experiences were in VA, DC,MD, consequently,that meant great music,spring ,summer, and fall.

performing arts theater right next to the Scope,amazing venue in my opinion.

Subject: bit overrated but interesting and worthwhile

A bit overrated, sloppy and lazy at points, but there's a strange psychedelic undertone the whole time and some moments of really intense stuff.

Subject: My 1st of aprox.150 shows

EXCELLENT SHOW. ONE OF THE SWEETEST SCARFIRE> ESTIMATED>EYES THAT I'VE EVER HEARD. THIS WHOLE SHOW IS A DEFINITE FOR YOUR COLLECTION.Sound quality is good ,but there are better ones floating around. Get it b/c the band is on this night as well as most of the shows I enjoyed for the music ,NOT THE SCENE .The girls and the band were the scene, not the ogres getting too wasted to even know what was played w/out a recounting of the event when they sobered ( sometimes days later) or not at all...... They're loss....

Subject: The Dead Electrifying at the Scope

An early road trip for me and my tour buddies. One of the few shows the Dead ever played at norfolk. Of course no Promised Land: too obvious. I was taping the show with a hand-held tape recorder. There was so much energy during CC Rider that my tape deck was vibrating like crazy. it spread down my hand and halfway down my arm. Thought i would be electrocuted. Got nailed for speeding in Maryland and Virginia driving my friend's car (with no speedometer). Never paid them. Still, one hell of a show.

Subject: My Fourth Show

While the recording quality is not what I'd hoped for, this is still a killer show...Intense Scarlet/Fire, great Not Fade Away with crowd singing on pitch!
